Transgender
Sasha Allen The openly transgender transgender female singer who made it to the Live Shows of The Voice, made history in their first appearance. It was the first time in the past 21 seasons of The Vocal contests Sasha was able to get past to the Battle Rounds. Sasha Allen and Jim Newtown, Conn. duo are now part of the top 8 of the contest! Sasha announced that he was transgender at the time they presented their audition packages during the Blind Auditions. According to Parade.com it was an easy decision. "That was an extremely difficult decision because you're showing a vulnerable part of yourself to a lot of millions of individuals," said Sasha, who transitioned while he was in high school. The support of the fans and the effect that it can have on the people around, even though the decision was difficult to take, was what really was the main factor that convinced Sasha to make the change worth it. The Voice wasn't even around when we first played the song. We were ecstatic to receive the song. It was a song we thought of and we came up with plans to put it together. "I was surprised by how the crowds nailed the tune."
