Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell (born 25th August, 1949) is an American television chef and host. She was also an instructor at the Institute of Culinary Education. She is the host of Food Network's Secrets of a Restaurant Chef and also serves as co-hosting Worst Cooks in America. Her signature spiky blonde hair and her pumped-up appearance, Anne Burrell eliminates the intimidation of eating out and offers simple, easy-to-learn techniques for the at-home cook in her Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. Burrell is a chef who has been in the kitchen for a long time. Burrell is also a veteran of New York City's best restaurants. She also has explored Italy's cuisine and its culture as well as the landscape. Early on, while growing up in New York's upstate region, Burrell became passionate about food and cooking. The Culinary Institute of America sparked her interest in the management of restaurants after she graduated with an English/Communications degree at Canisius College Buffalo NY. She says "I loved being a Culinary Institute of America student. I was awed by every moment." I couldn't seem to get enough enjoyment from the experience. After graduating, Burrell spent one year in Italy studying at the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners and working in the Umbrian restaurant La Taverna del Lupo as and Tuscany's La Bottega del 30, an Michelin-starred restaurant. While in Italy she gained a deep appreciation and understanding of Italian culinary and cultural traditions. This has had a profound impact on the way that Burrell prepares her food. Burrell is a well-known ambassador of the Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation and has been on the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board which assists kids who have challenges. As a speaker, Burrell travels across the nation to speak about her passion for food as well as her career in the culinary field. Anne has always been grateful she was able to share her passion of and her passion for cooking, with people around the world.
